Things of the Past
When I think of my childhood life was so easy! I slept, ate, played and went to school! Back then School stayed at school and did not consist of 3 to 4 hours of homework each night. Yep those were the days! Now I work until it’s time to sleep. I eat when I can find time I help the boys with their hours of homework and trying to find time for family time that never happens, I am not even sure it exists any more? No, but seriously you would think with all this new technology our world has seen introduced in the last century you would think life would have become easier less busy, and yet in a lot of cases life seems much harder and far more busier. No it’s not just because I’m adult now with responsibilities but because all we can seem to do is find time for is work. I sometimes wonder if it’s all been worth it, the technology I mean. If you look at it from the family point of view most families have to have two incomes just to pay for all this new technology, which after it’s bought tends to promote me time rather than promoting family time, and this why I think our family structures are falling apart lack of family time. But at the same time we have all these new gadgets that help a person get things done far more quickly (like the dishes) and we of course have faster transportation much better treatments for our sick. I guess it true that you can’t stop progress but there are days when I wish I were sitting with my brothers at my dad’s feet while he read to us from Hardy Boys or a Jack London book. Now don’t get me wrong I love my family I just want us to find more time for family time and less of everything else! Yep the things of the past are calling me! How about you?
